From Florence with love

Florence, Italy

We’ve been busy in 2020!
While our healthcare workers around the world have been risking their lives to care for us during this historic pandemic, we have been busy this year sending over 500 beautiful nature photos to hospitals in the USA, Australia, Japan, China, England, Niger, and Nigeria to ease the stress a bit for them and for their patients.
Having placed more than 8000 nature photos in the past 18 years, our story has now been translated into 40 different languages in more than 400 healthcare facilities on all seven continents. Many thanks to our 371 (and counting) Contributing Photographers, our donors, boards, interns, and volunteers who have made this possible.
A special thanks to the Fay Slover Fund at the Boston Foundation for two grants plus an emergency 2020 grant for our particular challenges during this pandemic. I am humbled…
Enjoy “The Light in the Darkness”, an inspiring and uplifting video which combines the beautiful music of harpist Amy Camie and our lovely nature photos. Many thanks to our intern, Olivia Allen, for creating this timely video which is a gentle reminder to take a peaceful break and remember the good that surrounds us.
I am grateful to all who love what we do and for your support through your time, talents, and treasures. We have lots of good work still to do!
Wishing you a serene and healthy 2021…
Elaine Poggi
Founder and President

18 years ago I created the Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals, a nonprofit organization in which we place beautiful nature photos in hospitals around the world. I did this to honor my mother after assisting her for almost 3 months in the hospital. I saw a need for art in hospitals and I carried through on my idea. As of today, we have placed over 8000 photos in more than 400 healthcare facilities on all continents, with the help of our almost 400 Contributing Photographers from across the globe. This past year we have had many requests from hospitals facing the pandemic. My hope is that our colorful photos are giving comfort and hope not only to the patients but also to the healthcare workers who are risking their lives to care for us.
